Happy Yellow of Kintsugi

Yellow is a smile on a summer day, a shot of energy during a winter day, and a note of music in the autumn. Yellow has been with us almost all year long.Yellow is a kiss that blows all coldness away. It brightens up the sky and sends rays of delights down on earth. The color of yellow doesn’t mean a solid happiness. It comes with notion of being mellow, being messy, being flowy. But it is also very warm, rich, cheerful and bright.

In the concept of Kintsugi - an old Japanese art principle, yellow is used to amend imperfection. Kintsugi essentially means repairing broken pieces and recreating what has been destroyed into something else beautiful and arty. A line used to rejoin these damaged pieces back together is also colored in yellow. During the time of rebuilding our path, of living through imperfect reality, or of reconciling what has been lost in a relationship, the concept of Kintsugi is amazingly comforting. The idea of sitting there in front of the broken pieces, without the need to fix everything immediately, is also original and incredible. It seems living in the moment and cherishing what is available in life is not that simply given. To wrap up an old season and kick off a new year, a line of yellow happiness is going to be used to restore what has happened in the past. Art is created all around and yellow is indeed a happy color!
