Art and the artist: falling in love with the creation of time

I have no idea when I picked up on art and why art came my way. It doesn't run in the family; nevertheless, it seems to come natural to me. I have learnt through my own experience that art takes time. I believe that artists are not just born; they are at least in part self-made, a part that is equally important as innate talent. When does someone become a writer, a painter, or an artist? Before writing something or creating any work that can be called art, we have to gain experience: working, volunteering, singing, running, anything, and yes living! Experiencing life is definitely indispensable. As time passes by, people realize that they possess certain traits of being an artist, which may become obvious early on, or may manifest itself after a long period of time. Art will knock on your door when you least expect it. Seeing the potential to become an artist is virtually stepping back to observe and surrender one's life to the unknown. The feeling of art’s existence has come as spontaneously to me as "grass grows when spring comes" or "bees arrive when flowers blossom." Everything has its own moment, just like the living artist plunges in the flow of life until he is ready to let art be in charge.

Waiting for art to appear within us is an act of creation by itself. It is not simply counting the time because time is the least thing you should worry about; there is no deadline, no milestone, and no concept of following a course to graduate. Paying attention to how long it will take for art to arrive only drives us crazy. The clock is ticking, but it solely does what it is supposed to do - keep running the time. As someone once said “it takes a lot of patience to be patient.” So we should keep doing what we need to do and don’t be discouraged. Fight against the urge of backing down. A writer needs to keep writing. A painter should keep painting. The secret door of art lies in whatever work we do till the point when life gives us something else to do, a simple progression of what we have been doing. Only an inch forward is already good enough. Persistence and consistency produce the quality of an artist whose success is to maintain the level of practice until practice is no longer a practice. Every act that we do in one specific moment stems from a deep connection with innerself and a true understanding of desire. What we do and who we are becomes one. We are a manifesto of time.

It is the art of living in each moment that shapes an artist. Artists are bearers of time, born from the passion and patience of living in the moment of finishing a task in full awareness of emotion and space. The most persistent person, the artist, has let go part of himself to give space to time and to take all the time needed to transmit a fusion of passion. Once the work is done, a part of the artist is gone forever. When losing one’s self into the work with integrity and persistence, moments and minutes don’t matter anymore; the artist becomes the moments, the minutes, the seconds, being timeless as the artist is eventually merged with the source of identity. The speed of time and heartbeats collide in one single world that travels through time and unites with the innerself. A long awaited personal relationship between the art and the non-art in one person matures into a single creation of time. The two personas in one body are transformed in one spiritual moment that defines an artist when a gift of undeniably pure love of eternity flows through. The artist has to be “present” to realize the special time when art arrives. One should be in the "here and now", because if the artist is not at home, art will never have the chance to step inside. It is the artist’s power to master the relationship with time and keep the spirituality within the boundary of the present, uninterrupted by past or future desire. Art is then generated when the artist feels that everything stops and time has touched the soul of the artist who has both spontaneously and intentionally fallen in love with time.
